Seeking Serama- roo, eggs or "STUD"? « Result #9 on Oct 27, 2008, 1:57pm »
Seeking Serama -
Four YEARS into my breeding program, hit by predators! Looking for squatty, chesty cockerel or roo with no wry tail or boat tail and having vertical stance. Any color. Small size not as important - as long as body is not long and skinny, or horizontal.
Would also be interested in hatching eggs, if your breeders are as described above.
- OR - would share/trade chicks/pay fee... if you have a good cockerel or roo we can put over my hens. ( i have hens, but down to just ONE boy, and he wasn't my best bird).
i am not near you, but i have 4 little mixed-breed bantam pullets available. I am outside the Los Angeles area- but maybe we can get a chicken-train going...
i have 4 little mixed-beed bantams available. They are about the size of large pigeons and make great pets. Super easy to care for- rabbit hutch or doghouse can serve as coop! Or are you looking for pure-breds?

I have found that the cheapest place to buy plastic numbered leg bands is online at First State Vet Supply, http://www.firststatevetsupply.com/ They are cheaper than any feed store around my parts and have bought about 200 band from them so far. Check them out.

Hova Bator problems « Result #19 on Nov 27, 2007, 2:26pm »
Hello, I've had these two hova bator forced air models for about 3 years and both I received used and were reliable at first, but now there are problems. One can't seem to hold a temperature and the other just goes completely off temperature when ever it is touched (this includes the lid being lifted to candle eggs and just everyday jostling). I've hatched chicks out of both before the problems arose and they have ruined hatches only recently. If anyone has any ideas on what's wrong or of a good hova bator repair person I'd really appreciate an advise. I'd like to have them running before spring so I can lone them to my little sister's 2nd grade class room. Otherwise I just got a Sportsman incubator that can handle any hatch, but isn't exactly mobile. So I can't lone it out, but I can still hatch for myself so it isn't urgent that these things get fixed this minute.
Want to trade standard size cochins « Result #20 on Nov 26, 2007, 6:51pm »
Hi I am looking to trade my black cochin hen for a buff or orange hen. Doesn't have to be show quality, the man I bought my black one from said she was show quality though. I would also be willing to buy one if you didn't want to trade.

Re: leg bands « Result #23 on Aug 30, 2007, 9:37pm »
I too have been researching leg bands lately, because the local feed stores just never have the size, color and numbers I want in one set of bands. Some poultry shows have vendors come who sell the bands, and that's one good way to get them--but even then sometimes the selection is lacking. The U.S.'s main supplier of the popular colored plastic numbered "bandettes" (National Band) had a big fire in their manufacturing plant last year, so those bands have been in high demand and short supply the past year! I hear National Band is back in the business of making them though, which is good news.
Poultry and gamebird suppliers like Stromberg's, etc. carry various kinds of bands. You can sometimes find poultry/gamebird supplier catalogs in the Poultry Press. They usually advertise in Poultry Press too, so you can request catalogs from them.
The ABA (American Bantam Association) issues closed metal bands in all bantam sizes to ABA members. These can be ordered online. http://www.bantamclub.com/legbands.html
Here's National Band's page containing all their bird band styles: http://www.nationalband.com/leg.htm The thing is if you order directly from them, they're in bulk numbers.
Poultry Sale Photos « Result #26 on May 15, 2007, 7:44pm »
You may have already noticed--we have a new look for the CCFF website! Along with having fixed a few minor errors around the site, the main update for today is the launch of the Photo Album page. This update includes some new photos from our very successful Poultry Sale on April 21st. Thank you to everyone who donated birds to the club to sell; thank you to everyone who came out to help with the sale; and, thank you to all who supported our club by purchasing birds at the sale! If you could, please leave some feedback here about the photos, about the sale, and about the site's new look.
Re: Looking for Local Breeders « Result #28 on Apr 30, 2007, 1:38pm »
Hi there, and welcome to the board!
Are there any specific breeds you and your son are looking for? Are you looking for potential showmanship birds or just show quality birds in general? Posting that information might better help us connect you with a breeder.
